Flattening turns editable form fields into fixed page content
AcroForm text fields, checkboxes, and similar controls are rendered into a non-editable page representation. This is useful when a completed form should no longer behave like an input form.
Keep the original if you may need to edit values again
After flattening, the original form controls are no longer available for normal editing. Save the editable source PDF before creating a final flattened copy.
Flattening is not full document sanitization
It targets form fields. Metadata, annotations, attachments, links, and other PDF objects are separate concerns and are not automatically removed by flattening.
Zero AcroForm fields does not rule out form-like content
A PDF can look interactive while using XFA, scanned images, or ordinary page graphics. This tool and the flattener are focused on AcroForm fields.
