Create a labeled thumbnail contact sheet from multiple images.

Input and settings

How to use it

Create a PNG contact sheet from multiple images, using 220px square thumbnail cells with the source filename printed below each thumbnail.

  1. Choose the images to review.
  2. Set the number of columns from 1 to 12.
  3. Build the sheet, verify image/filename pairing and download contact-sheet.png.

Twenty-four photos at six columns produce four rows

A 24-image selection with 6 columns becomes a 6×4 review sheet, with every thumbnail followed by a short filename label.

Long filenames are truncated to their first 30 characters. If the distinguishing number is at the end of a long filename, the sheet can make two files look ambiguously labeled.

The contact sheet is built for selection work

Unlike a presentation collage, the filename label is part of the design so you can identify the original file after spotting a useful thumbnail.

More columns trade detail for overview

A 12-column sheet fits many images across the page but each source still occupies a 220px cell in the output. On-screen preview scaling can make fine differences harder to judge.

Images retain their aspect ratio inside the thumbnail square

Portrait and landscape images are scaled to fit and centered rather than stretched. White background remains around the unused part of the square.

Selected file order controls sheet order

The tool does not sort by EXIF time or filename. Confirm the ordering when the contact sheet is meant to represent a sequence.
