A Japanese IDN becomes an xn-- hostname

A Unicode hostname such as 例え.テスト is converted to the DNS-safe ASCII hostname form.

The current tool is primarily Unicode-IDN → ASCII hostname normalization. It does not provide a dedicated reverse “xn-- → Unicode display” decoder.

Punycode lets DNS represent non-ASCII labels

Internationalized labels are encoded into ASCII-compatible labels that typically begin with xn--.

This tool converts Unicode domains to their ASCII hostname form

Enter the hostname itself, such as an internationalized domain name. The result is the ASCII/Punycode representation used for DNS-style hostnames; this page is not a dedicated reverse converter back to a Unicode display name.

ASCII hostnames are not expanded into a Unicode display form

An existing xn-- hostname is accepted as ASCII and generally returned in its ASCII form.

This does not validate domain ownership or registration

A syntactically normalized hostname may not exist in DNS and may not be registrable. The converter only handles representation.
