A preview is a rehearsal, not a screenshot of every social network

Open Graph metadata tells social platforms which title, description and image you want them to use. This tool gives you a card-style preview before publishing.

The frustrating bit is cache

You can fix the HTML and still see the old card because a social platform may have cached the previous metadata. A local preview can confirm your input, but it cannot force every platform to refresh immediately.

What to check before publishing

  • Use a reachable absolute URL for og:image.
  • Keep the important subject away from the extreme edges of the image.
  • Make sure the title/description actually match the page.

A useful pre-publish check

If a title is long, see whether the important words survive near the front. If the image relies on tiny text, preview it at card size rather than only at full resolution.
