PNG to ICO converter

Create a favicon.ico containing multiple PNG-compressed sizes from 16 to 256 px.

Input and settings

How to use it

Fit one source image into several square icon sizes and package those PNG-encoded frames into an ICO file. PNG, JPEG and WebP sources are accepted.

  1. Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
  2. Select the Standard, Small or Large icon-size set.
  3. Run the conversion and download favicon.ico.
Standard
16 / 32 / 48 / 64 / 128 / 256 px
Small
16 / 32 / 48 px
Large
32 / 64 / 128 / 256 px
Fit
Preserves aspect ratio and centers inside each square

A wide logo is centered instead of stretched

A 2:1 source fitted into a 16×16 frame stays proportional at roughly 16×8 with transparent space above and below.

Very small favicon sizes lose detail quickly. A dedicated simplified 16px design can look better than merely shrinking a complex master image.

One ICO can contain several sizes

Each selected dimension becomes a separate icon frame, allowing software to choose a close match for the requested display size.

Check compatibility if you target very old software

The generated ICO is suitable for common modern favicon and icon use. If you need compatibility with legacy software that expects older ICO variants, test the file in that exact environment.

Aspect ratio is preserved

The largest fit that keeps the whole source visible is used, and unused square space stays transparent.

Small source files may become blurry when enlarged

If the source lacks resolution, generating a 256px frame cannot invent missing detail. Start with a sufficiently large master image.
