ICO can package multiple resolutions
Windows icons and traditional favicons can include several images so software can choose a suitable resolution for the display size. PNG export turns those entries into separate files.

Extract icon images from an ICO file as PNG files by size.
Read the image entries stored inside an ICO file and download each detected size as PNG. A single ICO can contain several resolutions such as 16, 32 and 256 pixels.
Entries already stored as PNG are decoded directly; DIB-style ICO entries are rendered to a canvas and then exported as PNG.

A 16-pixel use case may look better with an icon designed specifically for 16 pixels than with a 256-pixel image scaled down. Small entries can contain deliberate pixel-level adjustments.
The result lists dimensions and bit depth. Older ICO files can contain lower-depth variants, so two entries of similar size may still differ in appearance.
The tool reads embedded entries and creates new PNG downloads. It does not rewrite or remove anything from the source ICO.
