GIF frame extractor

Extract animated GIF frames as individual PNG images.

Input and settings

How to use it

Parse an animated GIF and export its frames as individual PNG images. Use it to inspect frame count or save a particular moment as a still image.

  1. Choose a GIF file.
  2. Set the maximum number of frames to extract from 1 to 300. The default is 60.
  3. Run extraction and download the PNG frames you need.

A 120-frame GIF can be limited to the first 60 outputs

With the limit left at 60, a 120-frame GIF is recognized as having 120 frames, but only the first 60 are exposed as PNG downloads.

Large GIFs can require significant decoding and PNG-generation work. Extract only the number of frames you actually need.

Animated GIF is a sequence of timed frames

The file contains multiple images plus display timing. The tool decodes the animation and exports the composed appearance of each selected frame.

Delay reveals the animation rhythm

Each frame link includes its delay in milliseconds. Two animations with similar images can feel very different when their frame delays differ.

The limit controls output, not the original GIF

Changing the maximum does not edit or truncate the source file. It only determines how many decoded frames are offered for download.

Extracted PNG files are static

Each result is an ordinary still image. Rebuilding an animation from those PNGs requires a separate animation or GIF-encoding step.
