For web photos, WebP around quality 85 is a practical start

If the goal is to reduce a batch of photographs for web use, WebP around quality 85 gives you a useful first comparison between visual quality and file size.

PNG is lossless, so the quality number does not behave like JPEG quality. Converting a transparent image to JPEG also cannot preserve transparency.

Format choice can matter more than a small quality tweak

JPEG, WebP and AVIF are often efficient for photos, while PNG is useful for graphics and transparency. Choose a format for the content first, then fine-tune quality.

The 50-image limit protects browser resources

Each file must be decoded and re-encoded locally. Very large batches can consume substantial memory, so the tool caps one run at 50 files.

ZIP is packaging, not another image-compression pass

The ZIP option bundles the already converted images into one download. It does not change the visual quality setting or re-encode the images again.

Source files are not overwritten

The browser creates new output files. Keep the originals, compare size and appearance, and only use the converted set once the result looks right.
