How to use it

Check whether a booklet page count is a multiple of four. It is a quick final check for saddle-stitched or other layouts where pages are commonly planned in four-page units.

  1. Enter the total page count as a whole number.
  2. Select Check.
  3. If it is not a multiple of four, read how many pages are needed to reach the next one.
Input
Whole number of 1 or more

62P → add 2P to reach 64P

62 pages means “add 2 pages”

62 is not divisible by four, so the next valid multiple is 64. The tool reports that two additional pages are needed.

This checks only the page count. Imposition order, cover handling and whether the printer counts covers separately still depend on the production method.

Why multiples of four appear in booklet work

When a sheet is folded into a simple booklet section, its two sides create four page faces. That is why saddle-stitched page planning often works in groups of four.

Blank or utility pages can fill the remainder

A 62-page document can sometimes become 64 pages by adding colophon, notes or blank pages, provided that choice fits the printer’s specification.

Fractional page counts are rejected

A physical booklet page count should be a positive integer. Values such as 62.5 are therefore treated as invalid instead of being silently rounded.

This is not an imposition planner

The tool does not decide which page goes on which side of a sheet or whether covers are included. It only checks the total against a four-page unit.
