Inventory tracker says who tracks stock, not the stock count

`Inventory tracker=shopify` means Shopify tracks inventory for that variant. Blank means inventory is not tracked. Editing this field changes tracking behavior, not the quantity itself.

This checker validates the values it can recognize and warns on unfamiliar values so you can verify the current integration setup.

Legacy header names are recognized

Both current `Inventory tracker` and legacy `Variant Inventory Tracker` are supported. Shopify documents `shopify`, certain legacy service values, and blank; current third-party fulfillment setups can also export as `shopify`.

If an old CSV suddenly behaves differently, check both the header format and the current fulfillment/inventory integration.

Related fields matter when tracking is enabled

When the tracker is `shopify`, the checker also warns if a present Continue selling or Fulfillment service column is blank. Shopify has defaults, but the default may not match your intended sales behavior.

A file can import successfully and still change whether customers can buy an out-of-stock product.

Multi-location quantities are a separate workflow

The product CSV tracking field and bulk quantity updates by location are different jobs. Shopify’s inventory CSV is usually the better fit for multi-location quantity changes.

Separating tracking configuration from quantity updates reduces the chance of changing the wrong setting.
