How to use

Reduce PDF file size in your browser. Safe optimization avoids rasterizing pages; optional raster compression is available only when you need stronger reduction.

  1. Choose a PDF file.
  2. Run safe optimization with the default settings.
  3. Only if you need more reduction, open Advanced settings and use raster compression after reviewing its limitations.

What to know before using it

Aggressive image recompression can reduce size but may destroy selectable text, links, or forms. This tool first tries a structure-preserving rewrite; rasterizing compression is an explicit advanced option.

Common failure points

  • Safe mode may not reduce files that are already optimized.
  • Aggressive mode can hurt searchability, copying, and accessibility.
  • Keep the original and review every page of important documents.

Practical example

For an email attachment, try safe mode first; only consider aggressive compression for image-heavy documents when necessary.
