How to use it

Build a mailto: link from a recipient address, subject and message body. It is useful for “email us” links that should open the visitor’s mail application with a few fields already filled in.

Enter the recipient email address.
Optionally add a subject and body.
Select Generate, then copy the resulting mailto: URL.

A prefilled subject makes replies easier to sort

With [email protected], subject Contact request and a short body, the generated link can open a compose window with those values already present.

What happens after a user clicks mailto: depends on the mail application and browser configuration on that device.

mailto: opens a compose flow; it does not send mail

The URL asks the system to open a mail client with draft fields. The message is not sent by this site or by the link itself; the user still decides whether to send it.

Subject and body are URL-encoded

Spaces, non-ASCII characters and line breaks need URL-safe encoding. The builder handles that step so you do not have to manually create percent-encoded strings.

Keep very long bodies out of the link

Browsers and mail clients differ in how they handle very long URLs. A short template works well; detailed instructions are often better added after the compose window opens.

Publishing a recipient address is still publishing it

A mailto: link exposes the email address in the page markup. If spam resistance or ticket tracking matters, a web form may be a better front end.
