Compare two CSV files by headers, rows, and cells and inspect additions, removals, and changes.
Compare two CSV versions when someone says “here is the revised file” and you need to see which cells changed. This tool compares by row and column position rather than by record key.
Row 10 column 3 is compared with row 10 column 3. The tool does not search for matching IDs and realign records first.
If B adds a row at position 10, old row 10 is now compared with a different record, and many later cells may appear changed. A huge diff can therefore be a structural shift rather than hundreds of edits.
Moving a column changes positions even when the header names and values still exist. Check header structure separately when the change count looks unexpectedly large.
The total changed-cell metric counts the full comparison, but only the first 500 differences are listed on screen so a large file does not become an unusable wall of rows.
Use it after hand-editing a master CSV to verify that only intended cells changed. For versioning workflows with many row insertions/deletions, a key-based diff is a different problem.
