Calculate Typed Expressions with Parentheses

Type an expression and calculate it directly in your browser.

Enter an expression

+ − × ÷ % ^ ( )

How to use it

Type an expression such as (1200 + 350) * 0.9 and calculate it directly. In addition to the four basic operations, the parser supports parentheses, remainder (%), exponentiation (^) and negative numbers.

  1. Type the expression on one line.
  2. Select Calculate or press Enter.
  3. Check the result, then use Copy result if you need it elsewhere.

Parentheses make the intended order obvious

With (1200 + 350) * 0.9, the addition is completed before the multiplication. Keeping that order visible in the expression makes a pricing or estimate calculation easier to audit later.

The × and ÷ characters are also normalized to * and /. Division by zero and mismatched parentheses return an error instead of a numeric result.

Multiplication and division come before addition

The calculator follows normal operator precedence. 100 + 20 * 3 is 160; if you want the addition first, write (100 + 20) * 3.

^ means exponent and % means remainder

2^8 returns 256, while 10%3 returns 1. The percent symbol here is the remainder operator, not a “10 percent discount” shortcut; for a 10% discount, multiply by 0.9.

Long decimal results are shortened for readability

Very long decimal results are displayed at a practical precision. If you are calculating money, tax or another value with a required rounding rule, apply that rule to the final result separately.

Keeping the expression is useful for repeat checks

Because the full formula stays in the input, you can change one price, rate or quantity and recalculate without rebuilding the whole calculation from scratch.
