Before using the result

Keep the original PDF for important documents and open the downloaded result to verify it before replacing the original.

Split the copy, keep the original

PDF splitting is handy for pulling out a chapter, creating handouts or breaking a large document into smaller files. The safest workflow is simple: keep the source PDF untouched and create new outputs.

The classic mistake is an off-by-one page

A document may call the first printed page “1” even though the PDF viewer counts a cover before it. Use the PDF viewer’s actual page index when you choose a range.

Check the outputs, not just the range field

  • Confirm the first and last page of each output.
  • Make sure confidential pages did not come along for the ride.
  • Keep the original file until the split files have been reviewed.

Typical use

An 80-page document can be split into four 20-page files, or you can extract only the chapter you need. Either way, open the outputs once before sharing them.
