The 130-character limit is counted from the actual CSV cell
Mercari Shops product names are limited to 130 characters. Leading and trailing spaces can be hard to notice in a spreadsheet, so this checker counts the actual cell text instead of trimming it first.
Exactly 130 characters passes; 131 or more is an error. A blank product name is also an error.
Move supporting detail into the description instead of forcing the title
Packing model numbers, colors, sizes and every selling point into the product name makes the file harder to maintain and pushes against the limit quickly. Keep the title focused on identification and move supporting detail into the description.
Use the 3,000-character description checker for that field.
Passing the title check does not prove the import is ready
Product name is only one required field. Condition, shipping method, inventory and category data can still stop a bulk import even when every title is within 130 characters.
For a broader pass, run the Mercari Shops product CSV preflight checker.
Before deleting useful words, look for accidental spaces
When a title is only one or two characters over the limit, surrounding spaces introduced by copy/paste are worth checking first.
The half-width space checker helps find prohibited ASCII spaces in other fields too.
