CSV distinct values extractor

Extract distinct values and occurrence counts from a selected CSV column.

Use tool

How to use it

Use this to see which values actually exist in a column and how often each appears. It is useful for categories, statuses, brands, or any field where unexpected spelling variants and blanks are easy to miss in a long CSV.

  1. Paste the CSV and select the column to inspect.
  2. Review the distinct-value count and the frequency table.
  3. Investigate rare spellings or blank values in the source data.

Distinct means exact string equality

Tokyo and tokyo are different values, and A is different from A . The tool does not trim or normalize case before counting. That makes unexpectedly high distinct counts useful for finding formatting drift.

Blank is counted as a real state

Blank cells are shown as “(blank)” and contribute one distinct value if present. For fields that are supposed to be required, this makes missing data visible rather than silently throwing it away.

Results are ordered by frequency

The most common values appear first. A one-off typo such as actve may therefore appear near the bottom under the dominant active / paused values. Equal-frequency entries keep their first-seen order.

This is an inspection tool, not a deduplicator

It summarizes values and counts. It does not remove duplicate rows or rewrite the CSV to one row per distinct value. The job is to understand the column before you decide how to clean it.

A practical example

Inspect category, brand, status, or shipping-class columns before an import. If you expect five allowed values and see eight, the extra entries are good candidates for spelling or whitespace checks.
